SOLAR WORKS CONSTRUCTS LARGEST NEW ENGLAND INSTALLATION
United Natural Foods, along with Solar Works, dedicated the installation of the largest solar electric system in New England. The 550-kilowatt STC solar photovoltaic system, installed at UNFI's natural foods distribution facility in Dayville, CT, is expected to generate approximately 600,000 kilowatt hours annually of clean energy.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was on the roof of 45 Rockefeller Center to celebrate the installation of a 61kW solar-electric system designed and managed by altPOWER, and using Solectria converters.

SPIRE CORPORATION EXPANDS MANUFACTURING SPACE
Spire Corporation has expanded into an additional 53,000 square feet of solar equipment manufacturing space at its Bedford, Massachusetts headquarters facility. The company now maintains a total of approximately 144,000 square feet of manufacturing and headquarters space at this location.

groSOLAR SECURES $10 MILLION IN FINANCING
groSolar, a national solar energy firm, has secured $10 million in a Series B financing that will enable it to continue growing rapidly. NGP Energy Technology Partners, L.P. led the investment round.

SUNEDISON RECEIVES DOE GREEN ENERGY AWARD
SunEdison received a 2007 Green Power Leadership award from the U.S. Department of Energy for its prominent role in advancing more widespread adoption of renewable energy used in power markets. SPIRE CORP TO DELIVER MANFACTURING LINE TO PORTUGAL'S MARTIFER SOLAR

AKEENA SOLAR PROMOTES JAMES CURRAN TO COO
Akeena Solar, Inc. announced the promotion of James M. Curran to chief operating officer from his previous position of vice president of operations. Curran will assume responsibility for the company's installation activities, as well as engineering, documentation processing, marketing, research and development (R&D), information technology, and human resources.

SPIRE FORMS JOINT VENTURE WITH TAIWAN FIRM
Spire Corporation announced that it has finalized with Gloria Solar Co., Ltd. of Tainan, Taiwan, Republic of China, a joint venture to address the domestic solar photovoltaic systems market.

GT SOLAR SIGNS CONTRACT WITH CHINA'S GLORY SILICON ENERGY
GT Solar Incorporated has signed a $171 million dollar contract with Glory Silicon Energy Co., Ltd., of JiangSu, China for GT's new and more efficient DSS450 furnaces for the production of multi-crystalline silicon ingots.

SUNEDISON APPOINTS THOMAS RAINWATER AS CEO
SunEdison has appointed energy industry veteran Thomas M. Rainwater as CEO and a member of the Board of Directors, effective August 13, 2007.

GROOM ENERGY UPGRADES WEETABIX'S FACILITIES

CT ANNOUNCES HIGH - PERFORMANCE SCHOOLS PROGRAM
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) has approved a funding allocation of up to $1,375,000 to enable CCEF to launch a new initiative, the High Performance Schools Program. The goal is to transform how Connecticut schools are designed and built and to move towns to include energy efficiency features and clean distributed energy generation as standard components in newly constructed schools or major renovation projects.

CT CLEAN ENERGY FUND AWARDS $1.18 MILLION GRANT TO THE LEE COMPANY
System will be Largest for a Manfacturing Facility
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Board announced approval of a $1,180,000 grant to defray approximately half of the total cost of a 308-kilowatt DC solar photovoltaic system at The Lee Company's Westbrook, Conn. production facility.

CT CLEAN ENERGY MARKS RESIDENTIAL MILESTONES
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund and Connecticut home owners have helped the state reach two important clean energy milestones: the 200th residential solar installation and 1 megawatt of installed residential solar capacity.

$3.1M MASSDEVELOPMENT BOND SUPPORTS TWELVE SOLAR PROJECTS ACROSS MASSACHUSETTS
MassDevelopment has closed on $3,129,300 in federally-sponsored Clean Renewable Energy Bonds issued on behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to support the installation of photovoltaic cells at twelve facilities across the state.

AMERICAN SOLAR ENERGY SOCIETY RELEASES RENEWABLE ENERGY ECONOMIC REPORT
Renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies are driving significant economic growth in the United States, according to a report issued by the American Solar Energy Society.

CLEAN ENERGY SECTOR IS MASSACHUSETTS' 10TH LARGEST INDUSTRY
The clean energy sector is about to overtake textiles as the 10th largest in the Commonwealth, according to a "census" of the clean energy cluster by the Patrick Administration and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative.
