GT SOLAR SIGNS $50M DEAL WITH CHINA'S TRINA SOLAR
GT Solar and Trina Solar Limited announced an agreement for Trina Solar to purchase GT Solar's poly-silicon production equipment.

SUNEDISON ENTERS INTO 15-YEAR REC AGREEMENT WITH CONSTELLATION ENERGY
SunEdison and Constellation Energy executed a 15-year agreement to sell an estimated four megawatts of solar renewable energy credits in Maryland. When completed, the installations covered under this agreement will provide 30 percent of Maryland's Renewable Portfolio Standard solar energy requirements in 2008, and almost 60 percent in 2009.

SPIRE AWARDED PATENT FOR SYNTHESIS OF QUANTUM DOT NANOSTRUCTURES
Spire Corporation has been awarded United States Patent Number 7,306,963 entitled "Precision Synthesis of Quantum Dot Nanostructures for Fluorescent and Optoelectronic Devices."

EVERGREEN TO PROMOTE SOLAR USE IN MUNICIPAL UTILITY COMMUNITIES
Evergreen Solar, Inc. is working with the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC) to advance solar power opportunities for customers of Massachusetts municipal utilities.

SUNEDISON COMMENCES SPANISH POWER PLANTS
SunEdison has started construction on seven megawatts of photovoltaic solar power plants in Spain with joint venture partners Sunergy and Blue-Green Capital. The four ground-mount solar power systems will be completed by the third quarter of 2008.

MASSACHUSETTS ANNOUNCES SOLAR ELECTRIC INITIATIVE
Provides Rebates for PV installations
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts introduced a new initiative, Commonwealth Solar. The program provides rebates through a non-competitive application process for the installation of PV projects at residential, commercial, industrial, and public facilities.

KONARKA USES INK-JET PRINTING TO MANUFACTURE SOLAR CELLS

Konarka Technologies has announced that the company successfully conducted the first-ever demonstration of manufacturing solar cells by highly efficient inkjet printing.

March 27 - 29 - Solar Industry Seminar presented by Solar Energy International - Fort Collins, CO
The conference offers an exhibition hall with the latest gear and three days of workshops from the industry's best. There will be vendor booths, product displays and technical equipment trainings. In addition, SEI will offer introductory training sessions for novices to the industry. Participants can earn NABCEP Continuing Education Credits.

March 31 and April 1 - Permitting and Inspecting Code Compliant Photovoltaic Systems sponsored by SEBANE, the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the City of Boston, the Massachusetts Association of Electrical Inspectors, Western Massachusetts Electric Company, and the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers, Local 103 - Hadley, MA (3/31) and Boston, MA (4/1)

The purpose of this workshop is to help the audience better understand the NEC requirements for designing and installing PV systems. The workshop is designed for building inspectors, plan checkers, fire officials, PV installers, designers, engineers, and architects who wish to stay on top of the latest code compliance issues that help facilitate safe and long-lasting PV systems.

The workshops are open to New England code officials and employees of SEBANE member firms.
