Solar Industry Urges Quick Release of SMART Program

SEBANE and solar coalition partners CCSA, Mass Solar, NECEC, SEIA, and Vote Solar have signed a letter to Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Matthew Beaton to urge swift action on the impending release of the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program. Citing uncertainties as a result of bureaucratic delays, the solar parties urge the Baker-Polito Administration and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) to consider the health of the solar industry as well as its benefits to the Commonwealth at large in launching these new solar incentives. In addition, the parties state that “with net metering caps reached in three utility territories in the Commonwealth, additional delays in SMART program implementation will cause further loss of good, local jobs.” Read the entire letter below, and MassLive coverage of the industry request.
